The conferences have involved a very important sensitization process to key agents, with 23 Universities from 6 countries (Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Argentina and Spain) with 79 authorities and academic managers. Consequently, there is a basis for a Network of Universities in Latin America to give continuity, strengthen and implement new rural development activities by inserting the theme of the IAR Principles and the DVGT.
The model has been applied in a first phase in 12 Programs, at the undergraduate and postgraduate educational levels, of 9 Universities in 5 countries, achieving the objective of initiating methodological changes in the medium term to insert the theme of the IAR Principles and the DVGT in its different forms in the undergraduate and graduate degree curricula, as well as in research activities.
An interdisciplinary and international group of more than 70 teachers from 6 different countries - undergraduate and postgraduate - has been created who share methodological concepts and a common language, which facilitates stable long-term collaboration, opening up new possibilities for innovation and educational cooperation, making it possible to share methodologies and resources.
From the Network of participating Universities, there is interest in a second phase, to seek cooperation and linkage, between companies and public entities (universities, non-governmental organizations) for joint work, especially in Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia, and to be able to take to specific territories this approach of the integration of the IAR Principles and the DVGT in order to generate wealth in rural areas and contribute to food security.
