“Curricula, case studies and seminars to increase the knowledge and capacity of universities on the Principles for responsible agricultural investment that respects rights, livelihoods and resources (IAR Principles), and on the Voluntary Guidelines on Responsible Governance of Land Tenure (DVGT)”
In the LETTER OF AGREEMENT between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the General Foundation of the Polytechnic University of Madrid - FGUPM Madrid, Spain, the provider of services will elaborate, according to point b) Definition of the products and results: Five Cases of Applied Research (download link) on the IAR and DVGT themes (shown in report one of the original LOA) from companies, associations, etc; for integration in the research activities of the Universities.
A synthesis of these Applied Research Cases are presented in this first deliverable to support the implementation of the Principles for Responsible Agricultural Investment that Respects Rights, Livelihoods and Resources (IAR Principles) and the Voluntary Guidelines on Responsible Governance of Land Tenure (DVGT).
The Research Cases have been divided according to their application for the implementation of the IAR Principles or for the DVGT from the joint work between Universities and the collaboration with companies, associations and Public entities.
Cases of Applied Research in relation to the IAR Principles
Family farming in the Puebla Valley (Mexico): Linking, transfer and diffusion of innovation Food Security Project at local level in the Latin American context Peruvian Poultry Association (APA): an experience of business cooperation in Peru.
Cases of Applied Research in relation to the DVGT:
Alternative Development and Illicit Crops in La Macarena (Colombia) The Governance of the Land and the Mapuche conflict (Chile) “Strengthening the capacities of the Academy and the Private Sector of Latin America and the Caribbean and contribution to the Practical Guide for Parliamentarians for the application of the Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems ”The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (hereinafter“ FAO ”) and the Foundation General of the Polytechnic University of Madrid- FGUPM (hereinafter, the "Service Provider") (both hereinafter, the "Parties") have agreed that the Service Provider will provide certain services defined in detail in the attached annex (the "Services ”), Which are an integral part of this letter of Agreement (hereinafter, the“ Agreement ”) in support of the“ Strengthening of Capacities of the Academy and the Private Sector of Latin America and the Caribbean and contribution to the Practical Guide for parliamentarians for the application of the Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems (CSA-IAR Principles) ”.
